Pack 1154 Treasure Hunt

Rules & guidelines

Items you will find on the hunt:

• Clue Starting Spot Locations: These are marked with Yellow/Orange Stars on the Google map. Use the clue trail map to find the starting place to read each clue.

• Treasure Hunt Markers: 4-inch medallions with a number and a clue letter on the back. They typically hang from an object or structure.

• Treasure Number & Letter: Located on the back of each Treasure Hunt Marker. Write them down as you find them—you’ll need all six number and letter combinations to unlock the final treasure map.

• Treasure Map: The final treasure location can be accessed at https://www.pack1154.org/treasure. You’ll need your clue number and letter codes for the passcode. The passcode is the six clue medallion numbers and letters combined in numeric order.
  Example: If the codes are 1V, 2R, 3G, 4H, 5Y, 6B, the passcode would be 1V2R3G4H5Y6B (use uppercase).

• Treasure Box: A small, bright orange combination box. The combination to open the treasure box is the first three clue medallion numbers, ordered alphabetically by their clue letters.
  Example: If the codes are 1V, 2R, 3G, 4H, 5Y, 6B, the alphabetical order would be B6, G3, H4, R2, V1, Y5, so the combination would be 634.v

Goal of the treasure hunt is to have fun and find the treasure!

How to reach your goal

1. Clue Starting Spot. Start by going to the first clue starting spot on the map (located around WINDMILL Park Ashburn Farm HOA). For each clue starting spot, there is a numbered clue that matches the clue starting spot number on the map.

2. Treasure Hunt Marker Search. The medallions may not be visible from the clue location spot, but the riddle/clue will tell you where to go to find it. Make certain you are having fun searching even if you don't find it. HINT: If it takes longer than 20 minutes, move on and circle back later.

3. Finding Markers. WRITE DOWN THE LETTER AND NUMBER found on each Treasure Hunt Marker. This is essential for unlocking the final map and treasure box. Once you’ve found a Treasure Hunt Marker, return it to its original spot to keep the fun going for the next group. Hint: Some markers may be visible but hard to reach. Consider using binoculars or a zoomed-in photo to capture the details without needing to get too close.

4. REPEAT. Head to the next clue location on the map and read the corresponding clue (e.g., “Treasure Hunt Marker 1” goes with Clue #1). The clue can also be found on the Google map. Follow this process for all 6 locations.

5. FOUND ALL THE CLUES? It's time to find the final treasure! Access the treasure map at https://www.pack1154.org/treasure. You’ll need your clue number and letter codes to enter the passcode.

   • Passcode format: Combine all 6 clue medallion numbers and letters in numeric order.
     For example, if the clue codes were 1V, 2R, 3G, 4H, 5Y, 6B, the passcode would be 1V2R3G4H5Y6B (in uppercase).

   • Treasure Box Combination: The combination is the first 3 clue medallion numbers, ordered alphabetically by their clue letter. For example, if the clue codes are 1V, 2R, 3G, 4H, 5Y, 6B, the alphabetical order would be B6, G3, H4, R2, V1, Y5. The first three would be B6, G3, H4, so the combination would be 634.

6. FINAL TREASURE. Unlock the treasure map and receive the last marker and clue to find the treasure!

Other Important stuff:

• Make sure you leave each Treasure Hunt Marker so others can find them.

• Markers are no further than 200 yards from the clue starting spot. Often it's what you can see that explains the clue.

• Take pictures of your journey and share them with your friends and family. Let them all know about pack 1154 and their awesome events.

• SHARE your photos on BAND, but don’t give away the locations!

• Once you find the treasure, read the letter inside and follow the instructions. You can take a couple doubloons for each scout and sibling. Leave the rest to share.

• Please make certain your close and lock the box for the next group, reset the code to 000. Text me when you find the treasure so we can keep track, 571-246-1646.

• The hunt is for the whole weekend, but it may not take more than an hour or two in total. If you have any difficulty finding any item, please send me a text or call at 571-246-1646.

• Remember to have fun!

Preparation

1. Come prepared to hike or bike around. If hiking, recommend hiking shoes. Recommend long pants if veir off into the woods.

2. Bug Spray (picaridin or deet recommended)… bug have been bad in general, please spray up.

3. Remember your Six Essentials for a Hike!

   • First-aid kit: adhesive bandages, moleskin, gauze, antibiotic ointment, etc.

   • Water bottle: filled and large enough to last until it can be filled again

   • Flashlight: for emergency use.

   • Trail food: can be made as a den activity prior to hike or campout (feed your lions, tigers, wolves & bears)

   • Sun protection: sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater and a hat

   • Whistle: also for emergency use.

Clue Numbers

When you find a Treasure Hunt Marker, go to the next numbered Clue Starting Spot location and read the numbered clue. Write down each

• Clue Starting Spot 1 - Beyond the three tree amigos standing as one, And a resting place across the pond. A leaning friend with a hollow deep, Guards the secret you wish to keep.

• Clue Starting Spot 2 - From the marker, the path turns true, continue on from blue to blue. When the rains come and waters flow, Look to the hedge where the hidden things grow.

• Clue Starting Spot 3 - We WELCOME the sight of each visitor true, but then score a seat with a raised view.
  Rest on the twins, then turn to the west, where the lone one stands, revealing the rest.

• Clue Starting Spot 4 - At the tunnel’s mouth, your search takes flight, where shadows deepen and fades the light.

• Clue Starting Spot 5 - From the highest spot above the smell, Where sights grow clear, and all is well. Gaze to the open, and you may glean, The marker rests where things do lean.

• Clue Starting Spot 6 - Of duo crossings, this one is two, But don’t stay put—move by foot, see it through. The path, near-rooted, points the way, To what stands revealed, in clear display.
